What unites atheism is one thing: not theism. And many atheists are very insistent upon keeping it that way. So why should a group, which is hardly a group, be responsible for deriving a "new diagram of human values"? There are many organizations which have arisen to provide people with the type of structure they have become addicted to. Consider secular churches as one such example. <br>This article suffers heavily from overwrought generalizations; which are there in the first place because you are trying to fit all the data neatly into your worldview. <br>Your characterization of atheism as a reactionary stance, as a trend or fashion as well, is not only unsupported, but derogatory. There are many different philosophical arguments with which an atheist can ground his views. My favorite, with which I will end this rebuttal, was probably most eloquently stated by Christopher Hitchens, "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
